If you’ve been driving around Kiama recently, you might have noticed a fresh face on the café scene: Beck’s Kiama has quickly become one of the most talked-about new places in town, earning praise from locals and visitors alike thanks to its excellent coffee, friendly service, and a relaxed coastal vibe that fits right into the rhythm of this seaside community.
A fresh start from day one
Beck’s Kiama officially opened in July 2025, stepping into the space previously occupied by a much-loved local favourite, Little Earth Café. The transition was swift and smooth: Little Earth closed on 29 June and Beck’s opened its doors just six days later on 5 July, ready for the morning rush.
What makes Beck’s story especially compelling is the family connection behind the name. Brothers Kane and Hayden Presland launched the café together, drawing inspiration from their grandparents’ family name Beck, which has deep roots, stretching back to a coffee house in Budapest in 1912. It’s a little bit of heritage and a lot of community spirit, all wrapped up in a bright, easygoing space.
Coffee that wakes you up
The new owners honoured the legacy of Little Earth by keeping the same beans. The result is a strong, richly flavoured brew that’s made to kickstart your day. It’s the sort of coffee that would wake up the most reluctant early riser, with plenty of locals agreeing it’s one of the best in town.
A simple but satisfying menu
Beck’s keeps things uncomplicated, with a menu that reflects the perfect seaside morning: fresh pastries, bacon and egg rolls, toasted options and other morning favourites. The menu might be too simple for some, but let’s be honest, do you really need more than a buttery croissant or a classic bacon and egg roll to start the day?
Pastries from well-renowned Slow Dough Bakery make appearance on the counter, keeping the food quality high without overwhelming the simple menu. The focus here is on fresh, well-executed basics that complement the coffee and the casual, friendly vibe.
A space that feels like Kiama
From the moment you step in, you get a sense that this place is designed for community. There’s a welcoming sun-lit feel, comfortable seating, and space that encourages lingering around.
The brothers have emphasised the importance of customer experience, and it shows. Service is described by many as incredibly lovely and polite, with staff who genuinely enjoy what they do. That level of care is clear from the moment you order to the moment you walk out with your coffee in hand.
Coffee, culture and community
Beck’s celebrates surf culture and local craft, with a small retail area showcasing surf-related apparel and handmade goods that reflect the personality of the owners and the coastal community they’ve joined.
It’s that blend of great coffee, thoughtful service and local flair that has helped Beck’s quickly feel like a proper part of Kiama’s café scene in those short few months they’ve been on the scene.
When to visit
Beck’s Kiama is open seven days a week from 6:30 am to 2 pm, making it ideal for early morning coffee runs as well as relaxed brunches on lazy South Coast days.
If you’re planning to explore Kiama, do not miss this outstanding coffee experience.
