Kiama Harbour Cabins sits on Blowhole Point, directly across the road from the lighthouse, with views of the Pacific Ocean. The harbour curves around to your left. When guests talk about the view, they’re not exaggerating the position, there really isn’t a better-located set of cabins in the Kiama area.
It’s one of the most-searched accommodation options in the region, and consistently one of the first things to sell out on peak weekends. In this article, I will cover what exactly are you getting, what to watch for, and how to secure a booking in time.

A side-note on NRMA
A lot of people search for “NRMA Kiama Harbour Cabins.” These cabins are not NRMA-managed. They’re run by Kiama Coast Holiday Parks, a council-owned business unit of Kiama Municipal Council. This means that NRMA membership discounts don’t apply here. The closest NRMA parks in the area are Kendalls on the Beach and Shellharbour Beachside, which do take NRMA discounts.

Blowhole Point is a small headland at the northern end of Kiama. The lighthouse has been there since 1887. The cabins sit between the lighthouse and the town, arranged around the point itself.
From the front of the property, you’re looking directly at the Pacific. Bombo Beach stretches to the north. On a clear day, the horizon is uninterrupted. The rock pool at the base of the headland is right at the doorstep and works well for families with young children – don’t forget to pack swimming shoes to protect little feet from oyster shells.
It’s a 5-minute walk to the blowhole viewing platform. The town centre, cafes and the harbour are about 10 minutes on foot. You don’t need a car to access most of what Kiama has to offer from this location.

The cabins
There are 39 cabins across six categories. The differences between them come down to bedroom count, sleeping capacity and which direction the views face.
Every cabin, regardless of category, includes the same base fit-out: a fully equipped kitchen, reverse cycle air conditioning, spa bath, electric blankets on the main bed, linen and towels, Foxtel, washer and dryer, and a private balcony with an electric BBQ and outdoor setting. The furnishings lean practical rather than luxurious, and that’s a reasonable fit for a beach destination. What you’re paying for is the position.
The six cabin types:
Sea Breeze is the 1-bedroom option. It sleeps two and suits couples or solo travellers who don’t need extra space. The spa bath and private balcony are included at this level.
Harbour Lights is a 2-bedroom cabin sleeping up to five. It’s a good fit for families with younger children or groups of three adults who want a shared common space.
Pearly Shells and Crystal Waters are also 2-bedroom configurations sleeping up to five, with the same inclusions.
Moonlit Sands is a 2-bedroom option sleeping up to four, configured slightly differently to the others with four beds across the two rooms.
Ocean Dream is the largest option: 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeping up to seven. This is the cabin for a group of friends or a family needing two separate bathroom spaces.
The pricing difference between categories reflects bedroom count. For couples, the Sea Breeze is the right fit. For groups, going up to Ocean Dream is worth it specifically for the second bathroom.

Reviews across Booking.com and TripAdvisor are positive, particularly for the location, cleanliness and the standard of the kitchen fit-out. Couples rate the property at 9.7 out of 10 on Booking.com, which is unusually high for a self-catering cabin property.
Two things to note though:
Road noise. Blowhole Point Road circles the headland, and some cabins are closer to it than others. The traffic noise can be noticeable during the day. Closing windows and using the air conditioning at night typically resolves it, but if you’re sensitive to road noise, it’s worth asking about the cabin options when you call to book in regards to distance from the road.
Parking. The car park is shared and limited. Some cabins are within a short walk of it; others require a 40-metre walk with luggage. For a single night with light bags, this is a non-issue. If you are planning to come for a summer with your entire family, you might want to brace yourself, just in case.
Visiting the Rockpool
People often wonder whether they can visit the rock pool or the headland without booking a cabin. The answer is yes — the headland is public land and the blowhole and lighthouse area are accessible to everyone. Parking near Blowhole Point is free and has reasonable capacity outside of peak summer weekends.

When to book
Weekends between October and April sell out months in advance. School holiday periods, particularly Christmas and Easter, are typically gone by August of the prior year.
For a mid-week stay outside of school holidays, you’ll generally find availability with 4–6 weeks’ notice. For a Saturday night in summer, assume you need to be booking in September for the following December.
Set up a date alert on Booking.com if your preferred dates are unavailable. Cancellations do come through, particularly in autumn when the weather becomes less predictable.

Kiama Harbour Cabins sells out often. These options cover the same general area with different price points.
The Sebel Kiama sits on Minnamurra Street, a 10-minute walk from Blowhole Point. It’s the only full-service hotel in central Kiama, with rooms looking over the harbour. The standard is modern and consistent, and the location is as central as it gets.
Bellevue Boutique Hotel is on Minnamurra Street in the town centre, a smaller property with a more intimate feel. Good for couples who want to be walking distance from the cafes and harbour.
Big4 Easts Beach Holiday Park offers a different experience: beachfront holiday park accommodation with a pool, playground and cabins from around $170/night. It’s 5 minutes from Blowhole Point by car. A better fit for families or anyone who wants resort-style facilities over boutique position.
